The Montessori method is prominent in my classroom setup, materials, and way of teaching. Some of the key philosophies derived from Dr. Montessori used here at Sprouting Acorns include the following:

Respect for the Child

A child is a human being and deserves all the respect and courtesy one would extend to an adult.

Freedom Within Limits

Clear limits and boundaries are set around the safety of the children and materials. Within those limits the children will be able to explore the classroom freely and be trusted with choice in their work.

Following the Child's Lead

Every child is on their own unique path and learning journey. Following the child's lead requires faith in them. Each child will be met exactly where they are and helped to build upon the foundation they have. Every student's education in my classroom will be unique to them. Because of their individuality, students are encouraged to develop at their own pace and will not be kept from reaching their potential.
