Let's take a
closer look!

Self Directed Work

Children are able to choose from a variety of areas to work at including art, reading, literacy, math, science, fine motor, sensorial, and practical life. During this time, I will work one on one with students on small lessons geared toward their specific needs.

Snack

A small snack will be provided for your child. During this time we will also be working on practical life skills such as scooping, pouring, and eating etiquette.

Circle Time

We will gather together shortly to say hello to eachother, participate in calendar activities, expand our vocabulary, read books, and have various experiences revolving around the world we live in. This will also be a time to have "grace and courtousy" lessons. These are simple and fun lessons usually in the form of role playing that focus on social interactions or behaviors that don't necessarily come natually such as "getting someones attention", "waiting for your turn", and "asking for/ offering to help".

Gross Motor Activities

These activities work the large muscle groups. Some examples include running, jumping, climbing, throwing, pushing, pulling, biking, etc. Young children love exploring and strengthening these skills. We will do these activities both indoors and outdoor depending on weather.

Lunch/ Culinary Practice

Over the course of the school year we will make different recipes in order to expose your child to lots of different flavors, textures, and cultures! Learning the basics of cooking and practicing on a regular basis not only helps with basic life skills but is also tied to academic skills such as the ones listed below.

Sequencing: First wash our hands, then pour the ingredients in the bowl, next mix it together, then cook it, and finally we get to eat!

Counting: Counting ingredients as we scoop or amount of times we mix, identifying numbers on the recipe card or on the measuring cups.

Following Directions: Referencing the recipe to do all the steps in the correct order.

Fine and gross motor skills: Pouring, scooping, transferring, mixing, cutting, spreading, etc.
